He did not provide details of the plan, such as how many troopers will receive the devices and how much money the pilot program might cost.His comments come months after a nationwide Associated Press survey found that New York State Police are the country’s largest primary state law enforcement agency not equipped with body or dashboard cameras.Without operating those devices, New York State Police continue to remain an anomaly compared to police forces in large cities and state police agencies across the U.S., the Associated Press survey found. Many primary state-level policing agencies do not operate body cameras, but do use dashboard cameras.Patrol cameras are regularly praised by law enforcement experts as ways to increase transparency and hold officers and citizens accountable.Equipping state police with body cameras has received support from New York Attorney General Letitia James. Some state lawmakers have also expressed support for bringing the technology to the agency.New York State Police has said it once had VHS cameras and later digital cameras on a limited number of vehicles. But, according to the agency, it did not have the money to continue the VHS cameras and the digital cameras required “costly maintenance.”

Annette Bening, along with Jessica Hecht and Jessica Collins, will play the daughters of the previously announced John Lithgow in the Public Theater’s Shakespeare in the Park production of King Lear. Tony winner Daniel Sullivan will direct the Shakespeare classic about a King who loses everything after disowning his favorite daughter. The play will run from July 22 through August 17 at the Delacorte Theater with opening night set for August 5. Bening earned a Tony nod for her performance in Coastal Disturbances. She has also appeared on stage in Medea and The Female of the Species. She received Oscar nominations for her roles in the films The Kids Are All Right, Being Julia, American Beauty and The Grifters. Broadway alums Vanessa Williams, Julian Ovenden and Lauren Worsham are set to star in a semi-staged production of Show Boat this fall. The classic musical, which features music by Jerome Kern and a book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, will play Avery Fisher Hall from November 5 through November 8. Ted Sperling will conduct and direct. Williams will star as Julie, Ovenden will play Gaylord Ravenal and Worsham will take on the role of Magnolia. All three make their New York Philharmonic debut. Her additional stage credits include The Trip to Bountiful, Sondheim on Sondheim and Kiss of the Spider Woman. Show Boat follows the lives of three generations of performers, stagehands and dock workers as their theater, the Cotton Blossom, floats along the Mississippi River. The musical was first performed on Broadway in 1927 and has been revived on the Great White Way and by opera companies numerous times since then. The tuner features such classic showtunes as “Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man,” “Ol’ Man River” and “You Are Love.” Ovenden made his Broadway debut in the 2006 revival of Butley. His London stage credits include Marguerite in the West End, as well as My Night with Reg, Merrily We Roll Along, Grand Hotel and Annie Get Your Gun. Worsham is currently starring in A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder. The showbiz comedy written by and starring Jonathan Sayer, which is currently playing in the West End, aims to play New York in July 2015, according to producer Kenny Wax. The show recently announced its recoupment after just 12 weeks of West End performances.The plan, says Sayer, is to have the complete cast of the UK production reprise their performances on the other side of the pond. In addition to Sayer, the cast consists of Rob Falconer, Dave Hearn, Henry Lewis, Charlie Russell, Henry Shields, Greg Tannahill and Nancy Wallinger.Directed by Mark Bell, The Play That Goes Wrong introduces The Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society, a group attempting to put on a 1920s murder mystery. As the title suggests, what can go wrong does go wrong as the accident-prone thespians battle on against all odds to get to their final curtain call.The comedy originally opened in 2013 as a one-act show at the Old Red Lion in London before transferring to the Trafalgar Studios (Studio 2). The rumors were true! Les Miz Oscar winner Anne Hathaway has been tapped to lead the Public Theater’s production of George Brant’s Grounded. Tony winner Julie Taymor will direct the one-woman show off-Broadway. Performances will begin on April 7 in the Anspacher Theater, where it is set to open officially on April 23 and run through May 17.
